When you act in contradiction to your intentions, you feel stressed and conflicted because part of you realizes you’re not honoring what you really want. In this step, you will learn how to take conscious action based on what’s most important to you (not to other people) so you can feel more grounded and achieve the results you truly want.
Communicate For Impact
Being assertive is actually good for your health. The internal conflict created by miscommunication can cause stress, resentment, anger, feelings of victimization, and even a desire to exact revenge! Being more assertive and confident in your interactions will boost your self-esteem and earn you more respect – both of which can help alleviate tension and anxiety. In this step, you will begin to identify communication barriers in your critical relationships. You will learn how to be less defensive when engaging in challenging conversations, and how to “flex” your interpersonal style to achieve more positive outcomes.
